Introduction to Beavers

‘The best thing we did was swim in the rain. I wasn’t even sure we were allowed to, but it was brilliant! I mean we were wet anyway, so I guess it didn’t matter too much about the weather.’

Beaver Scouts are the youngest section of the Scouting family. Their activities are based around making things, outdoor activities, singing, playing games, going out on visits, investigating nature, listening to stories, learning how to be safe and most importantly, making new friends.

Children join a Beaver Scout Colony for many reasons. It might be they have heard great things from their friends about all the things your Colony gets up to every week. Perhaps parents or carers are keen for them to join. Whatever their reasons, whether or not they stay will be down to you and your team, and the weekly programme you provide.

45th win Beaver Sports Day

Beaver Sports Day – Monday 27th June:

19 teams took part in our District Sports day with the rain just holding off for the evening. It was great to see so many parents and beavers attend on a very exciting evening. The effort from all the beavers was exceptional with a close run competition. Even some of the leaders had a go on the obstacle course with Maria from 53rd winning. The final outcome on the evening was the 29th Ormskirk finished 3rd; the 37th Ormskirk finished a close 2nd and the winners were the 45th Ormskirk.

Congratulations to the 45th and well done to all the competitors. A big thank you must go to the SASU team for their running of the races and making the event run so smoothly. Thanks to Jean and Hilda, our score keepers and to the beavers for making the event such fun.
