After seven wonderful years, the ADC for Ormskirk District Beavers took charge of her last district event. The district funday was another great
success with 42 beavers from 5 colonies attending the event, held at the 29th Ormskirk, Burscough. Events included beat the goalie; launching paper rockets; bat the rat; golf; ballisters; an obstacle course and archery. Thank you to all the leaders, the district archery team and the members of the SASU team for all the time and effort in setting up and organising the bases.
At the end of the event, the beavers and leaders expressed their gratitude to Carol for this event, and all the hard work, dedication and friendship that she has spread around the district over the last seven years. Beavers from each colony passed on gifts and flowers on behalf of the beaver leaders from the district.
Although Carol will be stepping down as ADC for beavers, her efforts and dedication to scouting will continue in the SSAU team. So, on behalf of all the beavers and beaver leaders of Ormskirk district, we say farewell and thank you.

Eight teams representing the 4th, 29th, 30th (Tues), 30th (Weds), 37th, 42nd, 44th and 60th colonies took part in this years District Skills competition. It proved to be a very close contest with Beaver Scouts demonstrating Scouting knowledge and teamwork. After 6 fun filled events including a scouting quiz, flying paper aeroplanes, making a tower out of straws, identifying Beaver Scout badges, a BUG HUNT, and finally to end the competition a great camp fire sing song.
The eventual winners, by one point were the 37th (St Annes) who retained the Sharman Cup. Well done the 37th and all the Beavers who took part. As ever, we could not run this event without a lot of help. Thank you to all the Fellowship (SASU) members Doreen, John, Pam, Ann, Hilda and Roy. Not forgetting of course the chief organiser Carol. Thank you for another great event.

Wow! What a great evening. The church on Parbold Hill was packed to the rafters with beavers and their families. Hosted by the 4th and their vicar Simon, beavers from the 1st, 9th, 14th, 30th, 37th, 40th, 42nd and 44th made the event a magical start to the Christmas celebrations. Carol singing in the dark with just the light from glow sticks being waved by all the people present was a sight to see.
Thanks to Simon, the vicar, and the beavers and leaders of the 4th. You should all be proud of your efforts. Thanks also to all those who attended, kicking off the Christmas countdown with style.
May we wish you all a very happy Christmas and a peaceful New Year!!!!!!

Well done to all Beaver Scouts, Leaders and helpers, it was wonderful to see you all enjoying this event. Thank you for your support.

198 Beavers Scouts, 179 Cub Scouts and 138 Leaders & helpers including the Ormskirk contingent represented by 4th, 30th, 42nd, 53rd & 56th enjoyed a fun filled link day at Waddecar. Each base had a
“Country Theme” & Ormskirk chose France. We put together varied activities including – making lavender
sprays, French jigsaws, and a French facts quiz, knock down the Eiffel Tower game & each visitor to France had the opportunity to sample a ripe French cheese!
It would have been impossible to run this base without the invaluable help and support from Di Coverdale & Ian Biggin, Leaders from 30th Beaver Colony and Fellowship members – Ann & Eric Simms, Noel & Margaret Fern, Peter Hall, Ian & Carol Flavell and Phyllis Makin. I would also like to thank Jean Draper for her endless photocopying and cutting out! The rain held off long enough for the Beavers & Cubs to board the coaches for their journey home and then the heavens
opened as Fellowship members sat down to a well earned tea under a dripping gazebo!
