1. St Georges Day & Jambo selection

April 28, 2010 by Ash Green

It was great to see so many Explorers and leaders on the St Georges day parade last weekend in Ormskirk.  The rain just held off, and we marched to the two bands through the town & had an excellent service on Coronation Park.  It’s always good to get a turnout on such things, as not only do we get to catch up with each other, but the rest  of the District get to see US in force!  Cheers everyone for that.

On the Saturday before the Parade, it was the selection day for Ormskirk’s Jamboree contingent.  Competition was fierce, and with 26 people after 4 places, it was a very, very hard choice for the team selecting the young people – it took several hours after the young people had gone home to reach a decision!  The standard was very impressive, we only wish that we had more spaces to send people on.  The main page of the District Website will be updated soon with the details of those selected.

  2. Crown green bowling

    April 26, 2010 by Les

Tonight I have been been to Equinox to see them crown green bowling at Richmond Park in Burscough.  All of the explorers had a great time trying a sport that was new to them all.  This was organised by Chris H, who is a keen bowler, and a friend of his.  Chris is happy to organise evenings for other units, so get in touch with Chris and give it a go.

PS  I found that I am unlikely to be in the next Olympic bowling team.

  8. Explorer Climbing Badge course

February 5, 2010 by Ash Green

Ash & the District climbing team are putting on a climbing course for Explorers.  The aim is to get the Climbing activity badge, but also you can use this for your D of E or Scout Platinum award as the physical section.

This course is being run for everyone, no matter what level of experience you are.  Climbing is a great activity which is non-competitive (you only compete against yourself!), and can take you to some stunning places.

Check the downloads section for details.
