Challenge Cup

The mother of all trophies, surpassing all others in its honour and glory… well that’s the plan anyway!! And at the end of it your unit get to take home the astounding chalice pictured here.

Just imagine having this drinking vessel the size of a pint glass gracing your unit trophy cabinet!

The idea of the trophy is to get Explorer Units together in more joint activities. This will be acomplished by ESUs challenging the current holder of the trophy at an event. The challenges are meant to be fun and different – we don’t want football and canoeing – we want tiddly winks and egg and spoon races!

There are a few basic rules to make sure that the challenges run smoothly and Ormskirk Network have offered to supply independent judges when challenges take place.

Rules

  1. Any unit may challenge the holder of the trophy.
  2. The rules of the challenge must be clearly defined; there must only be one winner.
  3. A representative of Ormskirk Local Network will be the adjudicator. The adjudicator cannot be a unit leader.
  4. The challenge must be achievable and fair for both units.
  5. No challenge is to last more than a week.
  6. Any cheaters will be named and shamed.
  7. Results and details of the competition must be published.
  8. No consecutive challenges between two units, i.e. you cannot “tig your butcher”.
  9. Changes to rules must be agreed by the District Explorer Forum.
  10. A valid challenge cannot be refused.
  11. The decision of Ormskirk Local Network is final.

How To Take Part

  1. Think of a suitable challenge.
  2. Find out who is the current Cup holder and make contact with their Unit Exec / Leader.
  3. Agree the challenge rules and set a time and date for the challenge.
  4. Contact Ormskirk Network to ask for an independent adjudicator. Email ormskirk.network@scoutmail.org.uk.
  5. Do the challenge!
  6. Write a report including the results and send to Ash for publishing on the website.
  7. Have Fun!

So get thinking of challenges and claim that trophy for your unit
